Zia Asey is a board member of the Council on Foreign Relations Afghanistan(CFRA). Mr. Asey is an Assistant Professor in the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF). Mr. Asey has worked as the Director-General of M&E for the Ministry of Interior (MoI) of the Government of Afghanistan. He has worked as Senior Policy Adviser, and has also headed the Secretariat of the Strategic Leadership Board at the MoI.
Mr. Asey holds a BA in Economics, an advanced post-graduate diploma in National Security and IR, and a Masters in International Affairs from Paris School of International Affairs – Sciences Po. He has participated at advanced training programs on leadership development, strategy and policy design and implementation, diplomacy in the context of crises, and counter-terrorism at the National Defense University in Washington D.C., The French National School of Administration in Paris, and George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in Garmisch-Partenkirchen – Germany. Mr. Asey is also a Donald Rumsfeld Visiting Scholar and Fellow at the American Foreign Policy Council in Washington D.C.
