DR.MAISAM NAJAFIZADA

Dr.Maisam Najafizada is Assistant Professor in Public Policy, Public Health, and Population Health in the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. He completed his PhD and MA at the University of Ottawa and MD at Balkh University, Afghanistan.

Dr Najafizada’s research examines the intersection population and public health and health systems. In the past 5 years his research activities comprised the evaluation of primary healthcare programmes (population health interventions) within national health systems, assessing rural community interventions to improve overall population health, and synthesizing the literature around Community Health Workers as a potential Human Resources for Health for a Population Health System. His research projects have so far focused on Afghanistan, India, and Canada.

His recent peer-reviewed articles have been published in academic journals including The Lancet Global Health, Global Public Health, Human Resources for Health, Healthcare Policy, Conflict & Health, Nagoya Journal of Medical Science, and the Canadian Journal of Public Health.
